White-breasted robin        Images © Mark A. Chappell

The Australian robins (not related to North American robins) are interesting forest birds with considerable personality.   They are often bold and seem inquisitive, perching on a trunk or branch and sitting quitely, seeming to observe you carefully before flitting off.   They make lovely little cup nests out of spiderweb and other materials, and most have a simple song of one or two notes.   These white-breasted robins were photographed in Porongorup National Park and near Nornalup in southwestern Western Australia.
Related species include the eastern yellow robin, western yellow robin, scarlet robin, pale yellow robin, and grey-headed robin.
