Yellow robins (there are several species) are interesting forest birds with considerable personality. They are often bold and seem inquisitive, perching on a trunk or branch and sitting quitely, seeming to observe you carefully before flitting off. They make lovely little cup nests out of spiderweb and other materials, and have a simple song of one or two notes. Western yellow robins are somewhat shy compared to their eastern cousins, which they closely resemble except for having a gray breast instead of completely yellow undersides. These were photographed in Sterling Ranges National Park in southwestern Western Australia. |
