Western yellow robin        Images © Mark A. Chappell

Yellow robins (there are several species) are interesting forest birds with considerable personality.   They are often bold and seem inquisitive, perching on a trunk or branch and sitting quitely, seeming to observe you carefully before flitting off.   They make lovely little cup nests out of spiderweb and other materials, and have a simple song of one or two notes.  Western yellow robins are somewhat shy compared to their eastern cousins, which they closely resemble except for having a gray breast instead of completely yellow undersides.   These were photographed in Sterling Ranges National Park in southwestern Western Australia.
Related species include the eastern yellow robin, pale yellow robin, scarlet robin, white-breasted robin, and grey-headed robin.
