Grey-headed robin        Images © Mark A. Chappell

The various Australian robins (there are a number of species) are interesting forest and woodland birds with considerable personality.   They are often bold and seem inquisitive, perching on a trunk or branch and sitting quitely, seeming to observe you carefully before flitting off.   Those traits are particularly apparent in grey-headed robins, which are both large (for robins) and very confiding.   These were photographed on a trail off the top of the Mount Lewis Road near Julatten and near Lake Eacham, both in far north Queensland.
Related species include the eastern yellow robin, western yellow robin, pale yellow robin, scarlet robin, and white-breasted robin.
