The course was taught in Summer 2007 for the incoming PhD students at Simon School of Business, University of Rochester, where I was also a PhD student. This was the first time the course was offered, and it is still being offered in Simon School of Business, because it was very well received by the first generation of students.
The course focuses on developing a deep understanding of and an intuition for basic economics concepts relating to markets, consumer behavior, production, competitive strategy and externalities. The course is designed for entering doctoral students who do not have adequate background in economics for the microeconomics sequence of AEC511, 512 and 513.
