Sandhill cranes are one of the main reasons that nature photographers flock to the Bosque del Apache wildlife refuge in New Mexico; the other is the numerous snow geeese. These are some of my photos of cranes from a November 2010 visit. THe cranes in these pictures are getting ready to land to feed or roost; some are descending through flocks of snow geese. Another page has shots of cranes in flight, another has cranes at rest, and another shows cranes roosting on icy ponds. Other pictures of cranes and geese at Bosque are here, here, and here; also, look at the Bosque del Apache page for photos from other visits. |
