Identifying wildflowers can be a challenge, especially if they are not collected, but I think this large, graceful flower is Calochortus eurycarpus, known as the white, big-pod, or wing-fruited mariposa lily. I found this one growing all by itself in a canyon off of the Salmon River in Idaho -- as far as I could tell, it was the only one blooming in the entire area. |
