Palm tanagers are one of the commonest -- and least colorful -- of the diverse group of tanagers in Central and South America. These were exploring a palm tree and feeding on small fruits in Gamboa, Panama; the more colorful birds were in southeastern Peru. Other common species in Gamboa included white-shouldered, plain-colored, golden-hooded, crimson-backed, blue-gray, and gray-headed tanagers. |
