Gray-headed tanager        Images © Mark A. Chappell

Gray-headed tanagers are one of many species of tanagers found in tropical forests in Latin America.   This bird was photographed in deep forest on the 'Pipeline Road' trail in Soberania National Park near Gamboa, Panama.   Other common species in Gamboa included white-shouldered, plain-colored, golden-hooded, crimson-backed, palm, and blue-gray tanagers.
