A tradition among photographers visiting the Bosque del Apache refuge in New Mexico is trying to make interesting 'flight blur' images of the huge flocks of snow geese that are often moving about in very dim light. These are some of mine from a visit in November 2010, taken in various places with a range of lenses. They have in common rather long exposure times, allowing the wings -- and in some cases the entire bird -- to dissolve into a soft blur. This page shows another interesting crane pool sunset. Other pictures of cranes and Bosque are here, here, and here; also, look at the Bosque del Apache page for photos from other visits. |
