Several trogon species are found in Central America.   The large, dark slaty-tailed trogon is one of the most common; it can be identified by its red bill, lack of white line between the dark-green chest and red belly, and the all-black tail.   I took these pictures along the 'Pipeline Road' trail in Soberania National Park near Gamboa, Panama.   Two other easily-found trogons are the black-throated and violaceous trogons
