Columbines all have more-or-less the same flower shape, but come in various colors from white to blue to deep red, as here. They usually are found in moist habitats and are most frequently encountered along streambanks; these were in the Sierra Nevada of California, and in Idaho. I used long lenses (1000 mm or a 150 mm macro), which served to 'isolate' the blossom against a softly blurred background. Other pages have photos of white and blue columbines. |
