Weed's mariposa lily (Calochortus weedii) are found in southern California, mainly along the coast and in the coastal mountains. This species is highly variable, with flower colors ranging from pure yellow (shown here) to reddish brown. These, of the 'intermediate' form, were photographed near Laguna Beach, California. |
