Red-legged kittiwake        Images © Mark A. Chappell

Red-legged kittiwakes are very similar to the widely-distributed black-legged kittiwake, but they only breed on a few Bering Sea islands.   Besides their bright red legs, they are a little smaller than black-legged kittiwakes and have darker backs and underwings, bigger eyes (apparently they are nocturnal), and smaller bills.   I photographed these birds on St. Paul Island in the Pribilof group.
