These snow geese were photographed at the Phil Norton Observation Blind at the Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Area.   Snow geese can be told from the smaller Ross's geese by their larger size and heavier bills with a black 'grinning patch' along the mandible.   As can be seen in some of these pictures, snow geese rest, feed, and travel in large, noisy flocks (in the lower photo, a few dark-morph 'blue' geese are visible.
