Snow geese        Images © Mark A. Chappell

Thirty to forty thousand or so snow geese spend the winter at the Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge in central New Mexico.   Throughout the day, they commute back and forth between feeding and resting areas.   Most of these pictures were taken near the 'Farm Deck', and as can be seen from the upper right image, the moon was almost full during our visit.   The photo at upper left shows both the regular white and the 'blue' morphs of the snow goose.

More images of snow geese in flight are here and here.
