The 'least' Bell's vireo is a California race under threat from habitat loss and cowbird parasitism.  It prefers dense riparian vegetation, which is increasingly scarce in a highly urbanized state.  However, conservation measures (including cowbird trapping) appear to be having some success and the busy chattering of these little birds is increasingly heard in springtime.  These were at the San Jacinto Wildlife Area near Riverside.
