Biography

Wenxiu Ma is an Associate Professor in the Department of Statistics at the University of California, Riverside.

Wenxiu obtained her Ph.D. in Computer Science from Stanford University in 2012, under the guidance of Prof. Wing Hung Wong. She received her B.S. in Computer Science from Peking University. Before joining UCR, Wenxiu did her postdoctoral training in Prof. Matthew Scott's laboratory in the Department of Developmental Biology at Stanford University, and in Prof. William Noble's research laboratory in the Department of Genome Sciences at the University of Washington.

Wenxiu's primary research interest is in developing computational algorithms and statistical methods to solve challenges in genomics and biological big data. Her research areas include computational biology, bioinformatics, genomics, statistical and machine learning.

Wenxiu is a recipient of a Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) Award from the National Science Foundation and an R35 Maximizing Investigators’ Research Award (MIRA) from National Institutes of Health.
