Our lowland field site is the forest around Pantiacolla Lodge, about 3 hours by boat down the Rio Madre de Dios from the tiny settlement of Atalaya. Dense forest covers nearly all of the area, but at the river's edge one can get some scenic views, especially on clear nights or during storms. |
