The Cape York Peninsula is the northern tip of far north Queensland. It's pretty isolated and undeveloped, and although there is a road all the way to the northern end, most of it is 4-wheel drive only (and is inaccessible to even the strongest 4WD in the rainy season). We drove our little rented Toyota as far up the sealed portion of the road as we could, mainly to look for Australian bustards. I though the combination of grasslands and eucalyptus woodlands was very attractive. |
