Sky pilot (Polemonium) grows only at high altitude: if you see these intensely blue flowers, you know you're in the alpine tundra, or higher. These P. viscosum were photographed along the upper reaches of Trail Ridge Road in Rocky Mountain National Park. Colorado. I had a hell of a time taking sharp pictures because the wind never stopped blowing. |
