The iconic Joshua tree is one of several species of yuccas grow throughout much of western North America. They can be found in many of the 'high' deserts but are perhaps most common in the Mojave Desert of California. As would be expected, many groves are found in Joshua Tree National Park, where these photos were taken on a clear day, a stormy summer evening, and a spring dusk. Pictures of the lush waxy flower spikes are here. |
