Two species of tree kangaroo are found in Australia, the Lumholtz' tree kangaroo shown here and the somewhat larger Bennett's tree kangaroo. They are fairly large animals and don't look like they are too comfortable in the high branches where they typically are found -- they seem to move slowly and carefully. This is the best view we had of them, and it was taken on a rather cloudy day. I took the picture in a small park in the town of Malanda, on the Atherton Tablelands, northeastern Queensland. |
