Daintree ringtail possum        Images © Mark A. Chappell

Australia hosts many species of possums, which in general are cat-sized arboreal marsupials.   Daintree ringtails are the dominant possum species in the rainforests of northeastern Australia.   Other local possum species include striped possums and coppery brushtails.   This one was in the forest on Mt. Lewis in far north Queensland.
