Gilbert's dragons (Lophognathus gilberti) are dramatically-marked medium-sized lizards from the 'Top End' of Australia (this one was in Kakadu Park in the Northern Territory). This is an adult male; younger individuals lack the strong head pattern. The bottom image gives and idea of how long the tail is (you'll have to scroll a bit).
*I recently received an email suggesting this is not Gilbert's dragon, but instead is the very similar Northern water dragon (Tropicagama temporalis). I'm not familiar enough with Australian reptiles to be sure.
Both are impressive animals, but I'm a bit fonder of Boyd's forest dragon from rainforests in northern Queensland.
