Long Valley in the eastern Sierra Nevada (Mono County, California), with its sagebrush shrubsteppe country surrounded by mountains, offers some great opportunities for photography at sunrise and sunset. As a friend of mine says, if you put sagebrush in the foreground of most any scenic, it's almost guaranteed to be a good picture. Although that's a bit of an exaggeration, I tend to follow that philosophy. These photos were taken near the Sierra Nevada Aquatic Research Lab, on Convict Creek. |
