I took the two photos above on overcast days, which helped give even lighting. The clump of indian paintbrush (Castilleja) at left was growing out of granite rocks beside the Tioga road in Yosemite National Park. The paintbrush, lupine, etc. in the right image were in upper Rock Creek, between Mammoth and Bishop in the eastern Sierra. The paintbrush below were a little patch of color in an otherwise very dry year; they were above Saddlebag Lake just east of Yosemite. |
