In August of 2005, I did some field work at the Sierra Nevada Aquatic Research Lab. SNARL sits on Convict Creek on the east slope of the Sierra, and gives good views to the Glass and White Mountains to the east. During my stay there was about a week of summer monsoon weather with lots of clouds to provide interesting skies at sunrise and sunset. All these images were taken from the second floor of the lab administration building, using both a wideangle zoom and a telephoto zoom. The wide views were made with the help of graduated neutral-density filters, which help even out the exposure if you have a bright sky and a dark foreground. |
