The tooth-billed bowerbird is one of several Australian bowerbird species, but its plumage and bower are among the least impressive of alll. The species clears a small space on the forest floor, covers it with shiny leaves, and sings loudly (with lots of mimicry) from a nearby perch -- which makes the bowers rather easy to find. This one was photographed on the Atherton Tableland in far north Queensland. |
