Yellow-headed caracara        Images © Mark A. Chappell

Yellow-headed caracaras are small, slim hawks that are very common in Central and South America.   They frequently call attention to themselves with loud calling, as one of these birds is doing.   I took these pictures at the edge of the Panama Canal near Gamboa, and in a small park in Cali, Colombia.
