As in the US and much of the rest of the world, European starlings are common birds in central Europe. However, here they are natives, and elsewhere they are feral, invasive, and often harmful to native birdlife. Even in their native habitat they are aggressive and can eject other species from tree holes (used for nesting). I took these pictures in and around the small village of Bialowieza in northeastern Poland. |
