Palm warbler        Images © Mark A. Chappell

The palm warbler is a plain-colored but charming bird with a chestnut cap and olive-yellow rump and undertail.   It often perches on the ground and shows a characteristic tail-bobbing behavior.   I photographed these wintering palm warblers in Sawgrass Park near Tampa, Florida and on nearby Honeymoon Island state park; others were on the Monterey Peninsula in California.   More pictures of this species are on another page.
