The palm warbler is a plain-colored but charming bird with a chestnut cap and olive-yellow rump and undertail. It often perches on the ground and shows a characteristic tail-bobbing behavior. I photographed these wintering palm warblers in Sawgrass Park near Tampa, Florida and on nearby Honeymoon Island state park; others were on the Monterey Peninsula in California.
