The orchard oriole is less brilliantly colored than most orioles; males (like this one) are patterned in black and chestnut. The adult male was photographed on the Konza Prairie near Manhattan, Kansas. It did not permit close approach and did not stay in view for more than a few seconds, so these photos are not great. The others were rare vagrants to a park in Monterey, California. |
