Male bobolinks in breeding plumage are spectacular black, white, and yellow birds, but females and winter-plumaged individuals are much more sedate. THey are medium-sized passerines with a yellow tint and sharply pointed tail feathers. One of these birds (undetermined age and sex) appeared in fall migration at the San Jacinto Wildlife Area in southern California, far out of normal range. The adult males were at Bowdoin and Medicine Lake refuges in northeastern Montana. |
