Although not as colorful as many wood warblers, adult male blackpoll warblers are attractively marked in a black and white pattern. The species breeds spruce forests in the northern part North America and is a rare fall vagrant to the west coast. This winter/juvenile plumaged bird was photographed in Monterey, California; in this plumage they are quite similar to bay-breasted warblers . |
