Thick-billed euphonia        Images © Mark A. Chappell

The euphonias are a diverse group of small tanager-relatives.   They feed on fruit and insects, and the males are usually decked out in yellow and black patterns, as in these thick-billed euphonias.   I photographed this pair in Gamboa, Panama.
