Baltimore oriole        Images © Mark A. Chappell

The Baltimore oriole is now again a separate species; for a while it was 'lumped' with the closely-related Bullock's oriole, as there is a zone of hybridization in the northern Great Plains between the eastern Baltimore and the western Bullock's.     These 'grab' shots of a young male were taken on the Konza Prairie near Manhattan, Kansas.
