Western bristlebird        Images © Mark A. Chappell

The two bristlebirds (eastern and western) are small, brownish brush birds that are very skulking and amazingly difficult to get a good view of -- this is the best of three quick images I was able to obtain when the bird marched between bits of vegetation.   The are found in a number of small patches of habitat but their stronghold -- along with a couple of other skulking species (western whipbird and noisy scrub-bird) -- is Two Peoples Bay reserve near Albany, Western Australia.   This one was near the carpark at Little Beach.
