The great thrush is a large bird of high-altitude forests. Males are shiny black with prominent eye-rings; females are brownish; both sexes have orange bills and legs. These were photographed in cloud forest near Wayqecha Research Station on the Manu Road, at about 3000 m elevation on the east slope of the Peruvian Andes, and in Tatama National Park in the Western Andes of Colombia. |
