Collared flycatchers are charming, flashy little spring and summer residents of eastern Europe. They migrate to Africa for the northern winter season. Males are strikingly black and white; females are a more subdued brownish color. These males were photographed in the 'Palace Park' in Bialowieza, Poland. They were newly-arrived and many were seeking nest holes (as above at right); I did not see any females for many days after the males appeared. |
