Clay-colored robins are the tropical counterparts of the familiar American robin in North America: they're about the same size, have somewhat similar songs, and aside from coloration they look a lot like their northern relatives. They are very aggressive to potential nest predators, mobbing them with shrill calls. But like most tropical birds, they suffer from heavy nest predation, often from keel-billed toucans. These robins were photographed in Gamboa, Panama. |
