Chickadees are distributed throughout North America, and the black-capped chickadee is a common and confiding resident of much of the eastern US. The bird at upper left was photographed near a backyard feeder in Manhattan, Kansas (thanks to my friend Dave Rintoul!). The others were near Anchorage, Alaska. |
