For European birders the aquatic warbler is a prized find during a visit to Poland, where the species reaches the western terminus of its range (it's much more common to the east). During the breeding season, these small and usually inconspicuous birds of marshes and wet meadows make themselves obvious in late afternoons by climbing up reed stalks to noisily sing. I took most of these photos from a boardwalk extending into the wetlands from the "Czar's road" along the edge of Biebrza National Park, north of Bialystok. |
