Yellow-bellied sunbirds are small, active, nectar-feeding species from the wet tropics of Australia. They resemble the New World hummingbirds in terms of small size, bright colors (including glittering irridescent throat patches) and feeding habits. Males have the blue-black gorget and females have a plain yellow underside. These were photographed in the rainforest near Kuranda, and in a garden in Julatten, bothin far-north Queensland. |
