Shining flycatcher        Images © Mark A. Chappell

Shining flycatchers are birds of mangrove forests.   The sexes differ greatly in coloration but both are striking: males re shining black with a bluish sheen and bright orange mouths (visible in the bottom image, while females have black caps, bright rufous backs, and brilliant white undersides.   I took these photos from a wonderful mangrove boardwalk in Cape Tribulation National Park in far north Queensland, Australia.
