Noisy miner        Images © Mark A. Chappell

Miners are social Australian honeyeaters that have many of the characteristics of jays in the Northern Hemisphere: they are noisy, omnivorous, and very obvious. The noisy miner is abundant in forests, scrublands, and urban areas in eastern Australia; this one was in Lamington National Park in southeast Queensland.
