Black butcherbirds are the largest of the four Australian butcherbird species (grey butcherbird, pied butcherbird and black-backed butcherbird).   Consequently they are among a sought-after species for visiting birders.   Black butcherbirds are a rainforest speces restricted to northeast Queensland.  These were photographed on the Atherton Tableland near Lake Echam.
