Barred cuckoo-shrike        Images © Mark A. Chappell

Australia has several species of cuckoo-shrikes and this is one of the most striking, with its staring yellow eye and neatly barred underside.   These were in Speewa, near Kuranda in far-north Queensland; unusually for birds, they were often too close to get a whole-body image.
Another page has images of the common, widely-distributed black-faced cuckoo-shrike.
