Canasteros are a group of generally drab ground-dwelling Furnariids ('ovenbirds') found in open areas in South America. This the rusty-fronted canastero, a high-altitude specialist. It was photographed near Abra Malaga Pass, at about 4300 m altitude (about 14,500 feet) near Cuzco, Peru. A sympatric close relative in this area was the streak-throated canastero. |
