These large, brightly colored flycatchers are common in the eastern USA during spring and summer.   Most winter in South America and the Carribbean, but a few winter in Florida.   Sometimes they eat large insects, such as the dragonfly being consumed by the bird at lower left.   I took the photos at the Corkscrew Swamp sanctuary in southern Florida, and in Manhattan, Kansas.
