Green kingfishers are very common on streams, ponds, and lakes in Central and South America; their range extends into southern Texas (where the bird at upper right was photographed) and southeastern Arizona. I took the other photos on the old Gamboa road between Panama City and Gamboa, Panama. Two other common kingfishers in Panama are the bigger, heavier-billed Amazon kingfisher and the much larger ringed kingfisher |
